SPENCER VALDEZ
Spencer's Aviation career started in 2003 with him flying at the age of 14 at his local airport in Tennessee. After getting his pilot's license at 17, he quickly attained his instrument, commercial and helicopter ratings.
He started his first business at the age of 15 by turning his hobby of remote controlled aircraft into an aerial photography venture by flying cameras on his R/C helicopters or more commonly referred to back then as Helicams.
With over 20+ years of unmanned aircraft piloting experience, Spencer has operated UAVs all over the world for cinematic projects with companies such as BBC, CBS, Discovery, Fox Sports, HBO, National Geographic, Warner Bros, Paramount Pictures, Netflix and Amazon just to name a few.
The MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America) selected Spencer to work with the FAA to help write the regulations for commercial UAV operations (Section 333 now Part 107) because of his extensive knowledge and experience as a UAV pilot. His technical contributions to the use of UAV's in the film and broadcast industry won his ventures Emmy Award for Technology and Engineering Unmanned Aircraft in 2017.
